This set of electronic boobytrap demonstration models has been made for educational purposes.
It consists of several trigger units, some come with external sensors and a universal switching unit.
Picture above: Set with four trigger units and one universal switching unit
Picture above: Universal trigger unit with external audio sensor and universal switching unit connected with battery and dummifuse
All trigger units
come with a unique serial number. The first two numbers (AA)
indicate the primary detection principle. The second two numbers (BB)
indicate an eventually built in second detection principle. (00 means
no secondary detection built in.) The other numbers are part of an internal
code. |

Description |
05 |
Vibration |
![]() |
This
unit reacts on vibrations. The sensitivity is adjustable. It is activated
by applying the connector into the plug. From then, for about
40 seconds, the yellow LED flashes. When the yellow
LED fades out the unit is primed. If there is enough vibration applied
on the brass
coloured pad, the unit delivers the trigger impulse to the connected
cable (3 seconds, 9V, max. 60mA) and the red LED is switched on.
After that
the red LED is switched off and the unit
primes itselve again. |

Changing
illumination |
![]() |
This unit reacts on changing illumination. The sensitivity is adjustable. It is activated by applying the connector into the plug. From then, for about 40 seconds, the yellow LED flashes and the unit set itself on the actual light intensity. When the yellow LED fades out the unit is primed. If there is a sudden change of light intensity the unit delivers the trigger impulse to the connected cable (3 seconds, 9V, max. 60mA) and the red LED is switched on. After that the red LED is switched off and the unit primes itselve again. The unit is not sensitive to slow changes of light intensity. |

Universal
unit, ac signal source |
![]() |
This unit is equipped with an aditional connector for an external sensor. The sensitivity is adjustable. The unit is activated by applying the connector coming from the universal switching unit into the plug. From then, for about 40 seconds, the yellow LED starts to blink. When the blinking LED fades out the unit is primed. If the unit detects an ac signal the unit delivers the trigger impulse to the connected cable (3 seconds, 9V, max. 60mA) and the red LED is switched on. After that the red LED is switched off and the unit primes itselve again. Different external sensors can be used. (see below) |
00 |
Universal
switching unit |
![]() |
It is used to blow a conventional type "A" trainingsfuse (only dummies should be used, DO NOT USE A FUSE WITH EXPLOSIVES INSIDE!!!). It is used by connecting a battery (between 4,5V and 12V) to the red and black cable and by connecting the fuse to the universal-snap-connectors. The battery and the fuse can be tested by pressing the black button. If the green LED goes on, the fuse seem to be connected and the battery has enough capacity to blow the fuse. By applying the round conector into one of the trigger units the swiching unit is ready and waits for a trigger impulse. |
External sensor: Audio signals |
![]() |
This
sensor (active microphone) reports audio activity to the trigger
unit. Depending on the adjusted sensitivity it
can trigger from "not loud spoken words" up to shouting and shooting noises. |
|
External sensor: Vibration |
![]() |
This
sensor reports the changing of mechanical stress and vibrations to
the trigger unit. The stress has to be appied on the brass colored
field in the middle. With this external sensor the sensitivity can be
very high. It can be further incresaed by placing more or less heavy objects
on the brass field. |
|
External sensor: Magnetic fields |
![]() |
This
sensor reports the changing of magnetic fields to the trigger unit.
The magnetic sensitivity can be amplyfied by using
a magnetic conductor like an iron rod or a ferrite rod. Without
an magnetic amplifier the unit triggers for example on the magnetic
emissions of metal
detectors (single and doublepulse, continious mode,...), mag.-radiation
of monitors, with an apropriate ferrite antenna it can detect electric
tools (up to 1
meter
and
more) and
current-pulses
like
produced while starting a car-engine. by placing a strong permanent
magnet on
top
of
the
unit
it
is even sensitive
to vibrations. |
Additional equipement:
Audio signal unit |
This signal unit can be used instead of the universal swiching unit for example to avoid smoke. By applying the round conector into one of the trigger units the audio-signal unit is ready and waits for a trigger impulse. When detecting the impulse the audio-signal unit emits a loud and agressive noise. |
|
Swichbox |
The
swichbox can be used to combine up to five different trigger units
with one or two signal units. |
These and other models are (ONLY) avaible for training and educational purposes.
